At Back 40 Outdoors, we truly believe that the harder you work at hunting, the more successful you will be in the field. In order to be totally prepared for the upcoming season, this means doing everything possible to get ready. Shooting your bow, scouting the animals, and physically preparing your body for the grind of a long season are very important, whether it be for long hours and hikes into your treestand, or preparing for mountains like you see in the picture above. If you prepare properly, when the moment of truth for the animal of your dreams finally comes, you will be confident in knowing that you did all things possible to prepare for that moment.

Jerod finishing up the 30 mile Mountain Bike section of the 2007 Chippewa Triathlon in Cass Lake, MN. This was after a 20 mile canoe with 2 miles of portages. 6 hours into the race and still 7.5 miles to run!

Quickly fueling up before the 7.5 mile run with a Wilderness Athlete packet of energy gel. The Wilderness Athlete Hydro-Max also proved it's worth on this day. Over seven hours of activity, and only in the last couple miles did I feel really fatigued. I attribute 99% of that to training and mental toughness, but the other 1% can be attributed to a sound race day fuel plan using WA products. The products from WA will definitely be part of our hunts and races from now on. By the way, I was the only participant to wear camo throughout the race, I just had to represent!
